Amazon.com Giveaway

Lately I've read some great books and decided to offer a giveaway to my readers since it's been a while since my last one.  Here are some of the books I've read in the last 2 months.  The giveaway details are listed below.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo:
A darker mystery with a lot of twists and unexpected turns.  Not my normal style of reading, but it did hold my attention all the way to the end.

Hunger Games:
Great book.  I was sucked in immediately.
Catching Fire:
The second book in the Hunger Games Series.  I could hardly put it down.
Mockingjay:
The final book of the Hunger Games Trilogy.  My least favorite of them all, but it brought closure to the story.  I loved the first two.
Black Like Me:
This one is an oldie, but a goodie :-)
The Heretics Daughter
I'm currently in the middle of this one, so I'll let you know more when I finish.  So far so good...

  1. First one!!

Ok~ just finished "Little Heathens". The author grew up on a farm in Iowa during the depression and she really gives you insight to what it would be like. It is a true story.
Before this I read "Sh*% my Dad Says". I follow him on twitter, and it is full of foul language...but hilarious (unless that offends you).
The last series I read was Harry Potter...or maybe it was "The First Ladies Detective Agency"...I really want to read "The Hunger Games".
In the middle of "The Summer We Read Gatsby", jury is still out on it.
Yes, I read a lot and a lot of everything! Thanks Kristi~

  2. Oooh fun giveaway!!! I'm reading "My Side of the Mountain" by Jean Craighead George.

It's set in the Catskill Mountains and is about a boy named Sam Gribley who lives off the land in the wilderness of upstate New York. Sooo good...makes me wanna run away to the forest!! :]

  3. Ok another book I just got in today from the library is called "The Blessings of the Animals" by Katrina Kittle.

I know this is boring of me but I copy and pasted this :) "Shaken by her recent divorce, veterinarian Cami Anderson is on a quest to unravel the secret ingredient of a happy, long-lasting marriage. Cami’s parents are preparing to celebrate their fiftieth anniversary, yet her brother and his partner are legally blocked from marriage. Her best friend—and ex-sister-in-law—is newly engaged, but her teenaged daughter’s romance has developed its own complications.
Surrounded by several couples approaching different milestones in their relationships, Cami reflects on the meaning of love and partnership, sharing her hopes and fears with an angry horse, a three-legged cat, and an escape-artist goat in her care. As she tends to the rescue animals, so, too, does Cami begin to rescue herself. Coming to terms with her own divorce, she learns poignant lessons in forgiveness, flexibility, and happiness that help her master the art of simply moving on."
Haven't started it yet, but sounds good!! :]

  16. (Fun giveaway, thanks!)

I just finished reading "Mockingjay" and I agree, not as good as the first two, but a good way to complete the story.

I'm currently reading "The Wizard Heir." It is the second book of three, the first being "The Warrior Heir," and the third being "The Dragon Heir." I loved the first one. I think you will enjoy it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I also recommend the "Stephanie Plum" series by Janet Evanovich. It is about a single woman who lost her job, and ends up working for her cousin as a bounty hunter. The books have humor, romance, and mystery. The first book has a pretty ugly scene, but the rest of the books don't get quite as graphic (though if you made it through "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo" you should be fine with this book). The first book is called "One for the Money." You should definitely check the books out! :)

  18. This is a really fun idea, Kristi!

The book I am currently reading is called "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers. So far it is an excellent book and I totally look forward to bedtime so that I can read it! I'm staying up WAY too late to read it! It is a retelling of the book of Hosea and is a life-changing story of God's unconditional, redemptive, all-consuming love. Pick it up....it's fantastic...

Probably one of my all time favorite books is "The Wedding" by Nicholas Sparks...and "The Shack" too.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I love anything by Sophie Kinsella.
    Remember Me? is my favorite.

    ReplyDelete

I just read Leadership & Self-Deception and The Anatomy of Peace. Both excellent, even if the titles are rather mundane. They are by the Arbinger Institute.

Also have read about everything that Alexander McCall Smith has written--and he's prolific. Have you read any of his book series? No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Isabel Dalhousie, 44 Scotland Street, Portuguese Irregular Verbs.

  93. My favorite series is the "DragonKeeper Chronicles" by Donita K. Paul (I can't pick one book! LOL). It's a fantasy series sort of in a Narnia/Lord of the Rings type of world, where a young girl is thrust into a perilous quest in which she discovers hidden talents that she must use to save the land. The second book is my favorite . . .

    jafuchi7[at]hawaii[dot]edu

    ReplyDelete
  94. "The Sushi Series" by Camy Tang is good (and actually aimed at adults, compared to that last YA fic I suggested). The whole series has a sort of "romantic comedy" sort of vibe, so if you like that . . . you'll probably like this. In "Sushi for One?" the first book, with her cousin Mariko getting married, Lex Sakai becomes the next "USC" --unmarried single cousin coming under the eye of Grandma, who wants all of her younger female relatives married. Since Lex hardly dates, her grandmother threatens to pull the funding off the girls volleyball team Lex coaches if she doesn't have a boyfriend by Mariko's wedding, because if there's anything Lex cares about, it's volleyball. Lex won't be pushed around by anyone, but how is she going to get around this?
