More About Kasen

Here is video of Kasen at 4 weeks and 6 days. He's getting stronger everyday. On this video he's holding his head up on his own. We think he's super cute and think you'll love the video too! It's amazing to watch him grow!

Wild Week

As I write this, I am deeply saddened by the reality that Kai's spring break is over:-( We had so many great times together during his break that it's hard to come to terms with the fact that Kai will join the rest of the working class and be gone from 8 to 5 everyday. That's okay though. After a few counseling sessions with our family psychologist, I'm sure Kasen and I will be able to manage until the next break.
Okay, so that's a little dramatic, but it's always hard to watch a vacation end. We do have lots of fun times to think about until the next vacation though. Here are a few things we'll remember...
Like father, like son
He's such a stud!
Family self portrait at the WA Park
In between outfits. I think he looks like a jungle boy;-) We had a great time playing with all the effects on our camera. This picture pulled all the green out.
This one pulled the orange out. If only I could look this tan all the time!
Lunch at the WA Park. They had the best fries and ostrich burgers we've had in a long time!--Just kidding--we stuck with the veggie patties and fries which were scrumptious!
Hiking "our hills" in Loma Linda. They are so green this time of year. That is both a good and bad thing. It's good because it's beautiful. It's bad because it means that it's spring which brings...
Yes, that's a snake! I'm far away from it which is why is looks small. It was really about 4-5 feet long. FYI--I HATE snakes!
We think it was a rattlesnake, but we didn't try to get close enough to see it's tail. It moved pretty fast and with Kasen we definitely kept our distance. Thankfully our camera can zoom in pretty good--thus the close up shot.
This was the 2nd snake we saw on the trail. It was not a rattlesnake, but it was a snake still--ewww! Needless to say, we walked much more cautiously the rest of the day.
Family self portrait in the hills.
More fun effects with the camera. This is the 2nd of 3 crosses on the hills we hike. They're a beautiful reminder of the hope we have.

The Best of Birthdays

This week was spring break and we were able to spend some special moments together as a family. We had 2 birthdays--Kasen turned 1 month on Tuesday and I turned 2? on Wednesday:-) We both had great birthdays and loved having Kai around more than usual. Obviously this was my first birthday as a mommy, and I loved it! I was given the best gift in the world a little more than a month ago. We have truly felt blessed to have been gifted with such a great son! Birthday dinner by Kai
Birthday lunch at Johnny Rocket's--love their 50's menu with burgers/sandwiches/fries/malts--yumm! Thanks to our parents, I enjoyed a shopping spree at Victoria Gardens. I found so many great things! I had a fantastic time! I don't think you can buy happiness, but shopping is a close second!
Kasen waiting for his share of Johnny Rocket's to come in a few hours.

Kasen sporting his new sunglasses and remaining cool even though he's in for a whole day of shopping.
Fun effects with the camera. He has us wrapped around his finger. Kasen's 1 month birthday at Yucaipa Regional Park.
I fell asleep in the warm sunshine--I guess that's what happens after waking up every 2 hours for feedings for the last month....
Going for a relaxing stroll
The beautiful view we enjoyed
Special moments
Kasen absolutely adores his daddy
I love watching them together.
Such a cutie!
First time in the bath without the sling--just Kasen and the bathwater....
Not sure what to think.... Except when you have to get cleaned....
Afterward is so much fun (not sure why this is sideways??)!
Our little man that has stolen our hearts!

Kasen's 3 Week Pictures

Kasen turned 3 weeks on Tuesday! He's getting bigger and more alert everyday. His big eyes focus much more on us and on close objects. It's amazing how much he's already changing!
Kasen on his playmat. He loves looking at all the bright, colorful things on here and he even occasionally bats at all the objects, but I don't think those movements are intentional yet.
Sleeps like his daddy.
Hammock time--I'm SO happy finals are over for Kai. He's much more relaxed now.
Kasen loves Daddy time.
Don't you love his shirt? It was a gift from a dental school friend. And the little booties are handmade by Deidre. Love them both!
The hair question--which color would you say it is? Blondish or Reddish? We still debate over it.
Beautiful smile
We love walking and hiking as a family now.

The Loma Linda hills--beautiful and green right now.

Gone Fishing...

Today we spent a beautiful day up at Oak Glen hiking on the trails and...fishing??? No--though I like the outdoors, you will not find me fishing if I can help it. However, Kai could be seen fishing today for something very important....

It all started here on the floating dock. Pictured below: Kai with Kasen snugly in the Baby Bjorn.
Beautiful day--all smiles. Next we decided to get a family picture on self timer.
We have our self timer set to take a series of pictures every few seconds. Follow the progression to see what happened....

Kai: "I just dropped my sunglasses."

Me: "Where? Which ones?"

Kai: "Ummm...into the lake..."

Me: "That stinks. Which ones were they?"

Kai: "My nice ones."

Me: "What!? You mean your Dolce & Gabbana pair???" (Notice I'm about ready to jump in myself.)

Kai pictured after the successful fishing excursion. If it had not been successful, he was ready to try his hand at diving (even though the water was freezing). Note the big smile.

Me: Very thankful I didn't have a soaking wet, freezing cold husband to drive home. Note my big smile.

Instead, we celebrated by going out for frozen yogurt. Yummm!
