Christmas Edition

He's practicing for the real deal in a few more years.
Kasen started walking about a week and a half before Christmas. He loves to get around. Kai and I aren't quite sure if we like it as much as he does since he's able to break into all kinds of new things now--and faster!
Fell asleep on the Wild Africa Tram at the WA Park. I love it when he's cuddly just before a nap.

San Diego
SD Zoo
Christmas dinner. I made a Martha Stewart turkey this year that was to die for. I can't take credit for it though since I only followed the recipe and didn't invent this new delicacy. But I'll make it again for sure!
Opening presents on Christmas morning. This was the "Little People Airport" by Fisher Price.
Uncle Brit bought Kasen his very own computer since he is overly interested in every computer.
Fishies!!!
Nini came for a visit at Christmas and we did many fun things. This picture is from Downtown Disney on Christmas Eve.
Kasen's 1st Christmas.
Peek-a-boo!
One of the only times Kasen get's upset. He loves bath time!
He is so funny and random during bath time. This picture typifies his bath time personality.
I know it's blurry, but this picture says it all! It's one of my favorites.

At Sea World for the Christmas show.
This was SUCH a great performance!!! I was so impressed with how they left Christ in Christmas. Most large organizations shy away from that nowadays in an effort to appease everyone from all beliefs, but every song they sang was a true Christmas song (Silent night, O Holy Night, etc.), not just holiday songs.

The show started with Michael W. Smith's "Christmastime"--my all time favorite Christmas song. There were dancers and singers up front as pictured below. There were also dancers and singers that mingled in the audience. At the end of the show, they asked the audience to stand with them as they sang "Joy to the World". I would definitely recommend the Christmas show at Sea World!

Shamu and her baby
K2 and our baby. Keeping warm during the show
Snuggling in an ice cave
A very messy eating experience. Avocados, raspberries, and bananas. Oh, did I mention that Kasen hates bibs?
But he loves swinging!
And leaves!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas too!

Sleigh Bells Ring

Kasen went to see Santa for the first time. This is one of the only pictures I could get of him looking at the camera. Most of the others were of him staring at Santa thinking WHO is HE???
We went with Kasen's "girlfriend", Madison. He has yet to realize that she's a girl, although I think he's beginning to figure it out. He kept trying to rip the sequined bow off her head over lunch this time. We keep trying to tell him that's not the way to impress a girl ;-)
Kai took me to see the Nutcracker last weekend. We hired a babysitter and had a great date. It's so fun to get away as just the two of us again every once in a while.

Too irresistible to leave alone...

At the LLU Christmas party.
First snow experience (even if it was made by LLU)

A Night of Baking and a Few Other Random Pictures

Last night I had fun making treats for a bake sale benefiting a group at the dental school. I was in a creative mood (which doesn't happen all the time) and after some thought decided instead of the traditional bake sale treats, I'd try my hand at making something a little different. I had a great time assembling these and after much sampling, and a big mess of chocolate goo, here is the finished product:
20 treats in all
A favorite Oreo layer recipe of mine

Before packaging
Step 1--Doesn't look too promising...
I just love little naked baby butt pictures! Kasen will be mad at me in a few years... ;-)
Bath time is his FAVORITE time of the day. I think if we just kept adding warm water, he could stay in all day!
Boo!
He also loves computers and can shut one down completely in a matter of seconds!! Even I can't do that!

After coming home from Baby Boot Camp on Friday, Kasen thought my hat looked tasty :-) For those who don't know, Baby Boot Camp is a group of moms that meet with their babies at a local park and go running, stopping along the way to do different strength training exercises. It was a ton of fun! Here's a picture from that day:

Trick or Treat

Warning: This post contains many pictures and thus may bore even the most faithful of blog followers. However, I did cut many pictures out. If you make it to the end, thank you!

We celebrated our 10 year engagement anniversary last night. We enjoyed a great meal at a classy Thai place. We made it an official date and called in a babysitter. It was a nice change of pace from other times we've eaten out lately with Kasen. Those times usually involve hopping up every few minutes to pick up all the thrown toys, shhh-ing him from screeching and disturbing the whole restaurant, and trying to make sure everything that's meant to be on the table stays on the table (our food, drinks, dinnerware, candles, etc). In a word, it was quiet. Hard to believe 10 years flew by like that! On a side note, (and a bit of a sappy note) they have been the best 10 years of my life! So happy God brought this amazing guy into my life!

Here's our little dishwasher raider. He empties it almost faster than we do!
Dinnertime can be exhausting!
Peek-a-boo! Actually, he's trying to rip his bib off. He hates them.
Kasen playing with a friend. They always have so much fun chewing on each others toys:-) It's so cute to watch babies play together.
Trick or Treating...
Kasen and his future girlfriend. He's trying to impress her with his strong grip!
Although he seems to be pretty fascinated by this one too. Actually, he's just wondering why she's dressed like a lion.
Our little pumpkin

Trick or treating in downtown Redlands
On Cajon street by all the decorated houses.

Our pumpkin helping carve our other pumpkin
The finished product. Hard to see, but the pumpkin has 6 teeth, just like Kasen. Sure it's a little cheesy, but really, how much more creative can you get without the patterns??
He loved the gooey strings.

"Here Daddy, I'll help..."
I love how Kasen looks at Kai. I can tell he thinks his dad is the best already!

The end! You made it :-)
